Partners
Brian Morris
Brian is the founder of Morris Forensic. He has worked in most areas of public accounting and as a general practitioner involved in the provision of accounting, audit, taxation and business advisory services.
Brian has been retained in connection with a considerable number of matters involving litigation — including the investigation of financial records and transactions, valuation of businesses and business entities, assessments of loss and damage, audit negligence, accounting negligence and fraud.
Accounting and consulting assignments have included corporate strategy, management reporting, risk management, investment analyses, acquisitions and divestments, computer system analysis and design, taxation planning and general accounting advice.
Martin White
Martin has broad-ranging commercial experience from close to 20 years in the accounting profession. He currently specialises in financial investigations, business valuations and quantification of loss, however, his experience encompasses audit, taxation and business advisory.
Martin is the South Australian representative on the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand National Forensic Accounting Committee. He also provides his financial and governance expertise to several organisations, including the City of Playford, where he is the Presiding Member of its Corporate Governance Committee, and Brink Productions Ltd, where he is a board member.
A Chartered Accountant and Forensic Accounting and Business Valuation Specialist, Martin holds a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honours), a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Investment and Finance. He has also been admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of South Australia.
Nicholas Lopez
Nick has more than 10 years’ experience in forensic accounting, investigations, assurance services and litigation support. Nick is a Forensic Accounting and Business Valuation Specialist with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Nick specialises in providing the following types of forensic accounting and investigation services:
- Quantification of economic loss;
- Fraud investigation;
- Payroll investigation including the quantification of wage underpayments; and
- Financial accounting analysis, including financial statement reconstruction.
Nick has recently worked closely with South Australia’s largest employer in respect of a class action involving allegations of wage underpayments. This involved the analysis and interrogation of over 50 million data points in order to calculate potential underpayments based on various interpretations of the relevant industrial instruments.
Leanne Thomas
Leanne has in excess of 25 years experience in taxation and business advisory services. Leanne’s clients are diverse in both size and industry which has led to Leanne having a broad knowledge of taxation implications for all manners of business structures and personal wealth.
Leanne is further diversifying her career applying herself to Forensic Accounting.
Leanne holds a Bachelor of Accountancy and is a Chartered Accountants. Leanne also holds board positions with Not for Profit Associations.
Team
Nada Nichols
Nada is a highly experienced forensic accountant with extensive international experience.
Nada has recently returned from London where she provided forensic accounting services to individuals, corporations, charities/not for profits, major banks, foreign governments, and international law firms.
Nada’s experience includes conducting:
§ financial crime and fraud investigations;
§ expert witness work, including quantification of loss;
§ asset tracing across different financial institutions, entities and countries;
§ regulator and court ordered document disclosure; and
§ other forensic work, including royalty and cost audits.
Nada brings exceptional project management, data analysis, interviewing and reporting skills to her engagements.
Anni Paech
Anni specialises in tax and business advisory services. Anni has 5 years’ experience at a Big 4 firm in private tax, including working with high-net-worth individuals, small businesses, trusts and self-managed superfunds.
Anni holds a Master of Professional Accounting and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Michelle Morris
Michelle has a background in insurance litigation and has more than 15 years of experience working in the legal profession. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice and has been admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of South Australia.
Prior to joining Morris Forensic, Michelle worked as a solicitor at a specialist insurance practice in Sydney. Michelle provides legal and executive support to the Morris Forensic team.
Michelle Crook
Michelle is the Executive Assistant for Morris Forensic. She provides secretarial and administrative support to the forensic accounting team.
